Campaign to END Bear Farming

Tortured for nothing. Imagine being trapped in a space so small you cannot move. A hole is made in your stomach, then to prevent the passageway from closing the wound is constantly re-opened…all while you’re awake.

That’s just one of the procedures of Bear farming in Asia. The horrendous pain bears are put through daily makes my blood boil with anger.

The bears are kept to extract bile to be used in traditional Asian medicine. Bile is a type of fluid that aids digestion produced by the liver but stored in the gallbladder of mammals. Bear bile contains an active substance (ursodexycholic acid) that is known to treat conditions such as liver and eye disorders, reduce fever, detoxifying, and acts as an anti-inflammatory.

These bears are suffering unnecessarily as there are alternatives to bear bile. There are dozens of herbs that can be used as a substitute. The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) are working with the Traditional Asian Medicine community to try and educate consumers about the alternatives to bear bile.

Sign the appeal to show your support to end this cruel act. It takes less than two minutes to fill in the form. I have signed up, now it’s your turn. You don’t have to be an animal lover to feel sorry for these bears. You just need to be…a human being.

Joey Yung London Concert: “I’m really touched”!

There were tears of joy, but the queen of pop has done it again! Joey Yung’s very first concert in London was a huge success.

A selection of hand-picked songs, some of which Joey believed may have a special meaning to some people. It was actually a pleasant surprise to hear how fresh her voice sounded live. The audience were cheering and singing along all the way through, leading her to tears of joy and stating: “I’m really touched, the reaction from everyone is amazing”.

Joey wore three different outfits throughout the show; the first being a blue galaxy-inspired dress designed by New York-based designer Setareh Mohtarez. Joey revealed that she found this designer while surfing the internet and fell in love with Setareh’s designs. The glow lights given out to an audience of nearly 5000 (the hall’s full capacity), was to try and recreate the effect seen on the dress.

Other outfits worn by Joey includes a graphic-print jumpsuit, which worked well with the up-tempo songs.

And lastly, the cheerful one; a multi-coloured maxi dress, clinched in at the waist to accentuate Joey’s slim figure.

The majority of the audience were up on their feet during the second half of the show. Tons of confetii and balloons were dropped down onto the audience, bringing a great and fun vibe!

Some people were popping the balloons. Showing her well-known playful side; half-way through singing Joey said: “Hey, don’t pop them, play with them”! And then jokingly added: “Hey, how dare you” to the sound of another balloon popping.

Joey ended up staying longer than expected to sing a few more songs, as she said: “I don’t know when I will get the chance to come to the UK again”, to which fans shouted: “Next year”!

As Joey reluctantly waved goodbye, the air fills with anticipation for her hopeful return year after year.

Japan: running out of bags for the dead

Natural disaster it may be, but this is the only type of ‘natural’ we all hate to see. Communities completely wiped out, bodies being washed up in their thousands, and some districts running out of body bags.

An earthquake so powerful it shifted our earth’s axis by about 6.5 inches, and possibly shortening the day by about 1.8 microseconds!

We have seen the devastating events unfold on our televisions, it looks like something out of the film ‘Armageddon’. How terrifying it must be for the people there.

Latest image released by Google, showing the result of the disaster

Lets all do what we can to help those in need, for donations go to the British red cross website.

The unknown part of the world

Hidden deep inside a rainforest in Brazil, a whole new world exist.

Images of the uncontacted tribes living along the Brazil-Peru boarder has emerged. The never-before-seen detailed footage, proves the existence of these extraordinary people.

I’m intrigued at the mysterious lives these people live. Thought to never have had contact with the outside world. It is unknown what language they speak, what food they eat, all remains a mystery.

Armed with huge bow and arrows, ready to attack the aircraft flying above them. The message they give is clear.

However, a mystery is always intriguing. People, especially members of the press, will go to all lengths to find the truth. Some have come back injured, some may never return. What happened to a little mystery to keep things interesting
